I overslept this morning. I had a chance to go to Salem for relaxation with a couple of women, but I messed it up by oversleeping, then not getting the cat from 4th returned til just now and I still have to bottle feed kittens and clean litterboxes, although at least all the medicating and feeding is done.
So I'm kind of upset with myself on that.
I rushed things, after telling the woman by e-mail I was way behind on morning chores (which often take three hours when I have medicating and cleaning kitten poop to do), but I don't have her phone number and apparently they have already left. I'm sure they have, darn it. I just got back from returning that 4th street calico.
Well it is a whole lot of work here. I'm usually up by 6:00 a.m., to finish chores before taking cats up to the clinic for fixing. Today, I slept in so the morning chore thing went way beyond the usual time.
Morning chores include: cleaning ten or more litterboxes, preparing and delivering fresh food, to the foster kittens and old Ringworm, out in the garage; steaming him for 30 minutes; catching Shady, who has herpes and fights like a demon having eye meds applied (she hates eye meds, but is so sweet); sweeping and mopping the kitten room; giving all ten kittens and feral mom albon; bottle feeding six of the kittens; doing dishes, by hand (no working dishwasher), watering garden. I think that is it.
Evening chores include all the same, plus doing laundry, sweeping and mopping entire house, doing paperwork (records of cat fixes for Poppa and the Albany Cat Grant), and returning phone calls and searching out unfixed cats. Also, in the evening, I go out to trap. Sometimes, in poor weather, I can trap mid day, but, by summer, trapping is limited to early early morning, evening and night. This can foul up a sleeping schedule.
I do relax mid day, have lunch on my patio, if the weather isn't bad, and read a couple chapters in a book. I enjoy the mid day break very much and have included it in my schedule like it is a mandatory chore, just so I won't miss out on the mid day break, which I look forward to.
I told myself I have to relax some, or I'll die of the stress of over work and all the abuse and demands that I don't seem well equipped to handle sometimes.
I also turn off my phone ringer at 7:00 p.m. No phone calls taken after 7:00 anymore. I turn off the TV, if it's on, by 10:00 p.m., unless I fall asleep on the couch with it on. And I'm getting a book on that slow martial arts practise and hope to make that routine.
Well, I was tired out and slept in and missed out on the Salem trip as a result, but I forgive myself.
I am a Cat Woman. My self-appointed mission in life is to save the feline world! To accomplish this mission, I get cats fixed. Perhaps my mission might be slightly delusional. This blog is a mishmash of wishful thinking, rants, experiences as I remember them and of course, cat stories and cat photos. I have a nonprofit now, to help keep the cats here cared for and to fix community cats. Happy Cat Club formed in 2015. Currently, we are on a mission to fix 10,000 cats.
