This is a photo I took of the male after I trapped him the 25th of January, at the Corvallis apartment complex. He was fixed at the FCCO clinic the 27th of January. The brown tabby tux male today, after I went and got him from Heartland. This photo is of the Siamese male, whom I also originally trapped the 25th of January. He, however, was one of seven cats who did not get fixed at the FCCO clinic due to slow vets in the afternoon. He then went to Countryside the following Monday for his neuter. And the Lynx Point male today.
The cats fed by the disabled woman in Corvallis, whom I've urged to work to find homes for the cats she feeds for a long time, are ending up in live traps at Heartland. Animal Control is apparently trapping them at apartment management request.
This woman had called me a couple months ago, when I was deluged in cats from three situations, wanting me to rehome them. I had told her again to do so herself, because I was overwhelmed, I told her, financially strapped, scrapping for gas money, cat food money etc, and that I can't solve this alone. I gave her all the ways she could do that, by using the free ad option in the paper, by posting fliers, etc. And again she wouldn't do it, but rather thought she should write a letter of outrage to the paper instead. It is a lot easier, sure. But useless. And now, the cats are the ones who are paying the price. And me.
So many people will do nothing but throw out a bit of cat food and are willing to sacrifice zilch to help solve a problem of their own creation.
Heartland called me and I'm glad they did. They had two so far and they would not have lived, because they're not tame cats. The eartips saved them. Heartland calls me when an eartipped cat arrives there, to see if I can find some way to save the cats and find them barn homes. I appreciate this very much although it is always with a heavy heart that I make the trek over, knowing I'm in for more heartache, expense and work.
Yes, I know these cats. Both were fixed in January, along with a third male, an all white cat with one blue eye and one yellow one.
So I hope to find them somewhere out of harms way. I do wish that woman had heeded my advice long ago, about not being so public about feeding them and certainly not to feed them on a fire exit a couple floors up and attract raccoons. This is not cool or even safe.
And, I got a ticket to see Obama tomorrow, when he's in Albany!!! Woohoo!
I am a Cat Woman. My self-appointed mission in life is to save the feline world! To accomplish this mission, I get cats fixed. Perhaps my mission might be slightly delusional. This blog is a mishmash of wishful thinking, rants, experiences as I remember them and of course, cat stories and cat photos. I have a nonprofit now, to help keep the cats here cared for and to fix community cats. Happy Cat Club formed in 2015. Currently, we are on a mission to fix 10,000 cats.

Hey Jodie, where did you get the ticket?
ReplyDeleteThey handed them out in both Albany and Corvallis, two locations. At Albany, it was a very very short wait (no line), at the bowling alley on 14th.
ReplyDeletethat's horrible for those poor cats. do you have them now?
ReplyDeleteYes, I have both. Hope to find them barn home soon.
