Yahoo! Achieved Drainage!

I went to home Depot and got another piece of PVC, cut it to fit, with my trusty handsaw, fitted washers onto it, screwed everything together and I HAVE DRAINAGE again. I have a sink back. No leaks either.

I am plumber woman. I am sore back scratched and bruised plumber woman.

I do have much respect now for plumbers. What a painful job. I think they are, however, well compensated as a profession.

The Home Depot plumbing section guys had warned me, when I told them what I needed to do, that plumbing projects almost never go as planned and that there is usually a lot of frustration and swearing involved in do it yourself plumbing repairs.

That certainly was the case. I got my info on how to remove a garbage disposal off a webpage. The page said, after you unhook the dishwasher drain hose, after you unhook the water out pipe and disconnect the circuit breaker for the electrical, then you simply rotate the unit off the mounting nut. Yeah, right.

That mounting nut was frozen. It would not rotate off and believe me I tried.

Hence the hours of frustration, with bouts of swearing. That's what led me to the alternate very painful solution, that of prying up the metal lip on the inside of the sink, systematically, all the way around, bending it in, using pliers and pain, to finally get it so it would drop through the hole and I could then get that thing out of there.

So anyhow, drainage achieved. I can wash my dishes and get on with my life.
