Vicki from KATA called me this afternoon upset. An old woman who lives in SE Albany had left a message on their machine stating she had an orange kitten in a live trap in her backyard and wanted them to come get it. KATA is of course full of unwanted Linn County cats, as am I. But, Vicki called me, wanting me to go pick up the kitten because someone in the tone of the old woman's voice made her know the kitten would not be safe in her hands.
How right she was. The woman readily admitted to me she had trapped this kittens sister, a calico, maybe ten days or two weeks ago. They tried to get their daughter to take it, but she already has five cats. Then they stopped by SafeHaven, but SafeHaven was closed. Next stop? Allan Lane. They stopped, waited until some workers left, then opened the trap and sent that little calico kitten out into the dark of unfamiliar hostile territory alone.
The old woman said "Well, they're running into my garage and I can't have that. And maybe someone at the Target warehouse will see her and help out a starving little kitten." I could barely contain my rage. I wanted to spit in this old lady's face.
She and her Alzheimic husband did this, together, in a little hubby wife road trip.
Somewhere on Allan Lane, the road that runs between Pacific Blvd and Highway 34 and right by LBCC. The south side of Allan, before you make the 90 degree turn into the straight stretch that connects with Highway 34, backs the Target warehouse and so does the first half mile of the straight stretch after you make the 90 degree corner. They were coming from Highway 34 and I believe they dumped her on the east side of the straight stretch at the back of the Target warehouse.
I immediately went out to search for the little girl, talking to people who walk that road, live on that road and to businesses. Nobody had seen her.
PLEASE keep on eye out or go search for this kitten, dumped out in a heartless cruel act committed by two old people, who should have known better.
The old woman has an entitlement atitude, that if she has a kitten in a trap someone should came get it now, for her, and she should not have to pay a dime or break a sweat over it.
The calico kitten was lost to the behavior of whomever owned the mother cat and did not spay her, then to a neighborhood, who looks away when they see starving desperate kittens. Allegedly there is another kitten there in that area, who drags its rear end, because its' been injured and nobody has intervened to help that suffering soul. That's really sad. And so pathetic.
I'm in a mood I am.
I told that lady off, I did. If I see her again, I'm telling her "Hey lady, you're going to hell, you know. You know that, right?" That's what I'll say to her and that whole street.
I am a Cat Woman. My self-appointed mission in life is to save the feline world! To accomplish this mission, I get cats fixed. Perhaps my mission might be slightly delusional. This blog is a mishmash of wishful thinking, rants, experiences as I remember them and of course, cat stories and cat photos. I have a nonprofit now, to help keep the cats here cared for and to fix community cats. Happy Cat Club formed in 2015. Currently, we are on a mission to fix 10,000 cats.
