Out of Touch Republican Candidates

The Republican debate is going on. Makes me chuckle to see how out of touch some of them are. Romney's a clown. He and Huckabee, the two religious candidates, are at each other's throats. Ron Paul seems to be the intelligent one, with a deep understanding of the interconnectiveness of debt and money supply and of even the rise of Islamists. He is openly laughed at by the other candidates when he talks, which only makes him seem more intelligent.

They talked about health care. In the end, they started bashing people without health care as people who choose not to buy it, rather than people who can't afford it. What a pile of out of touch rich guy arrogant baloney. They don't know the working poor I do, I guess, who can barely afford to heat their homes. They don't seem to understand an individual running their own small business, with one employee can't themselves afford a single person $800 per month, plus copays, policy.

Most candidates are eager and I mean eager not to stand out, not to say anything radical or different. Most want to bicker about what they have done or said, or what they supported when. That is, except for Ron Paul. I don't know much about him, but he is appealing by this fact alone. I am intrigued by this very different very intelligent candidate.

Well, I'm getting more impressions: Huckabee, no real policy plans whatsoever, unbelievably shallow world view, no deeply thought out anything, not that smart. Romney: a showman, possibly con artist roots or wannabe, manipulative, enthusiastic, entertaining, without many ethics, deep rooted love of himself ("why not, I'm so rich and good looking."); Guliana: straight fiscal conservative. Not quite a true social conservative. Flippant and cocky. Entertaining. Sharp. Ron Paul: the man who would truely take America back to following the constitution. The true candidate of change. Radical in thought. Intelligent. Rambles some. True believer in the constitution. Right on target, in my opinion. John McCain: Got to love him. Honest John. Pays credit where credit is due. Refuses to lie. Straight shooter. Perhaps slightly archaic. Fred Thompson: one issue arrogant white guy.

Candidate most likely to behave like Bush, i.e. lie, manipulate fact at will: Mitt Romney. He's enthusiastic, but goes over the top, willing to do anything to win, which means he'd do anything he wanted as President. Not a good choice.

  1. The system is so corrupted I haven't voted in decades. But if it were Paul and Kucinich I'd actually register, of course knowing that the vote counting is always suspect.

  2. Ron Paul and Kucinich are the two candidates of change, the ones with brains and some vision. Same old with the others. I fell asleep during the first part of the Democratic debate that followed the Republican one.
