The good neighbor called me this evening to say she'd caught the final kitten of the four with the calico mom. I was happy and drove over to pick her up. She is unbelievably flea ridden. I mean, she was alive with fleas. She is the sister of Romeo, formerly known as Squeeks, the flamepoint male kitten, and of Blossom and Turtle. All three of these kittens, her siblings, are up in foster with Keni, Poppa Inc.'s president, and still in need of homes, but safe and sound.
She was so flea ridden, that an application of Revolution did nothing to lessen the parasite load. So I gave her a bath, and then picked off and rinsed off thousands of fleas, some huge! Poor little girl. How she survived, I don't know, but her life is about to take one big U turn. No more of that shit. She's never going to see that Albany slum yard again.
How would you like to live in that flea infested Albany tenant house yard?
I am a Cat Woman. My self-appointed mission in life is to save the feline world! To accomplish this mission, I get cats fixed. Perhaps my mission might be slightly delusional. This blog is a mishmash of wishful thinking, rants, experiences as I remember them and of course, cat stories and cat photos. I have a nonprofit now, to help keep the cats here cared for and to fix community cats. Happy Cat Club formed in 2015. Currently, we are on a mission to fix 10,000 cats.

Didn't realize one kitten could have so many fleas. I'll bet she feels a lot better now. Looks like she was enjoying the cuddling after her bath.
ReplyDeleteHoly cow, I've never seen a flea infestation like that before. I'm sure she feels much better now. Beautiful little kitty.

ReplyDeletegood job! i wish i lived over there i would adopt that little kitty in a flash if i could. have you announced the kitten on the simply siamese blog? maybe someone on your side of the Pond who posts there might be interested?
maybe call her Princess after Princess Diana, whose 10th anniversay of her death just passed...plus you are kind of the princess Diana for the kitties you help...:)
PS - plus she is a meezer...so it HAS to be something regal! not sure why my mum called me Storm - nothing regal about that!
ReplyDeleteWell, she's still here and I named her Zema. Her mom, the calico, got fixed and returned.
