Salvadore Skinny lives here now with me, although I still hope to find him a home.
Here is his story:
In late January of this year, I looked out my window and saw a very skinny old gray tabby running under my car. I went outside and put some food down, but he wouldn't come out until I went back inside. Then he gobbled it all real fast.
So I set a trap and I caught him. To my surprise, this cat was very tame, very relieved to be inside and warm, and he ate three plates of food. He was also already neutered and really really old.
What kind of a person could dump an old cat like Salvadore in the middle of winter to fend for himself? Some really mean person you wouldn't want to think was your friend, that's who. Who'd need friends like that? Nobody!
I wormed Salvadore and you should have seen the dead worm laced cat poop in the litterbox. He was full of roundworms and I mean full. So he started fattening up. He slept for like the first two weeks here. It was just as well. The weather turned really cold. Poor old guy, trying to make it out there, old and skinny and no place warm to even sleep.
So Salvadore isn't any trouble here at all. I've got a lot of geezers here. Maybe most of these old cats won't last out the year, but they will have ended their lives in warmth, love and by having some fun here with me. All cats seem to love it here, which can be a big problem when trying to adopt them out. When you adopt out a rescue you want the cat to think it will be better in their new home. But it doesn't get much better than here for cats.
Hey, I'm fun and this place is cat habitat supreme.
But it's tiny and only holds so many and I'm at my max with old Sal coming along and then Butterscotch, the old feral from campus here now too to end her days. I'm full up. I'm a cat nursing home and these geezers aren't sitting in rocking chairs knitting. Old toothless Scully caught herself another mouse just two days ago. Go figure.
