Claw---From Albany Homeless Camp

"Claws". I also took this sweet young adult male from the Albany Homeless camps today. He was fed by a homeless woman after he was abandoned by other campers. Another stray male is fed by the same homeless woman. I couldn't bring him out because I didn't have enough carriers. He's orange and maybe a year or so old. I did treat him for fleas, as he ate some food I gave him, and I wormed him.

I also wormed and flea treated six other cats the owners want to keep down in the camps. Originally an Albany city councilman told me the city would pay for flea treatments, worming and vaccines for the animals if I would go help do it. Then, they renigged, leaving me holding the bag, so to speak. But what could I do, turn my back to the issue just because I got lied to, by a politician? Big surprise there.

Somebody's got to care about those people and their animals down there.

Council Woman Sharon Konopa sure does. She was down there again today helping with the animals and driving homeless folk here and there, trying to find them permanent homes, clothes, food, etc, while the other council members do nothing and while she gets nasty e-mails from Albany residents angry that any money might be spent on "those" people. She can't believe the selfishness she is seeing.

But there is her, at least, working her butt off to help them and there's me, and there's Daniel, the formerly homeless himself, like me, and advocate of all things unnoticed. And we three at least are down there trying to help out. Posted by Picasa
