We suffer from high particulate air pollution as a result of this activity. I remember the fires...It is absolutely terrifying. I remember the firestorm which hit my city. By three o'clock it was so dark you couldn't see across the road. Black - with flames on the hills. 500 people''s homes were destroyed, and countless more bird and animal homes.
