F is for Friends

Today is the F day for A to Z blogging.

I'll go with a nice safe topic today.

F is for Friends

Who says cats are solitary creatures.  Somebody not in the know.

Some are I suppose, probably those raised as single kittens.

My cats here all have lots of friends.  But the friend cliques change, who likes who changes, who is mad at who changes, and the soap operatic cat drama here can be extreme.

Best of Friends, Electra and Cattyhop.  Both kitties have passed on now.

Juno and Sam are great friends.

Slurpy and Miss Daisy are very close.

Starry is also a best friend to Slurpy (on the right)

Alexi on the left still loves to cuddle with her mom, Haley

Buffy lays atop best friend Sam while other friends sleep behind them.
Last but not least, Vision, on the left, who recently died at nearly 23 yrs of age, with one of her many friends, Honey, who loved her dearly.
Here's to Friends.  Cat and human.  How precious the moments of friendship in our lives.

F is for Friends.

It is like a social study of human behaviour. Who gets along with who, who are best friends, who are enemies. It must quite fascinating to watch the interactions, especially if someone new is introduced.

    1. It is a study of behavior, that is for sure. There are gangs of friends, who then will suddenly out caste one of the group, and then they all, from that gang of friends, shun that one cat. I have a few who tend towards being bullies, but they dare not exhibit such behavior when I am present. I don't tolerate it and the offender gets a time out. As the population here ages, and they are mostly now over six, most being over 8, they all have mellowed. The former ferals get along with everybody, as they grew up in large groups and learned how to get along and avoid conflict.

  3. Feline Fun.
Ours tolerate each other, but rarely sleep together. However, if one is outside and the other in, the one who has come inside cannot settle till they are both in.

  4. Love you pictures of snuggling kitties. Although my cats occasionally sleep together, they mostly sleep near each other. When I saw that one big pile of cats and it made me wonder. Do feral cats sleep together like that? I would think they might for warmth.

    1. Feral cats are extremely family oriented. Which is why relocating a group of ferals is extremely difficult, as ferals bond to family and to their home location. Splitting them up, not relocating family with family, can turn fatal. Yes, they sleep together, because they are family and tight.

  5. Our 3 cats didn't like each other... but they'd sleep back to back, never seeming to admit that they were actually touching each other. The dynamics of their 3 personalities was a case study all in its own. I love your photos... they would make a great calendar... reminding us all each month of the value of friendship.

    1. I remember when Honey went to a home. It didn't work out and after a couple of months, she was returned. She was sooo happy to be back, ran in circles for a couple minutes, then raced to each of the cats here, and touched noses. That really sealed it in for me, how close cats become with one another, how the adoption game often rips apart families and friends. Gave me pause.
