Suggest to me some good books to read! I need the help.
I like both fiction and nonfiction. I don't like blood and gore quick mystery books, like some of the slasher type fast food murder mysteries out there now. I don't read the fast food romance novels either. I did at one time.
Other than that, I like anything from short stories to classics to humor.
I'm trying to remember some of my favorite books, but even that is hard.
I intend to come back to this post once I remember them to add to the list. For now I'll start my favorite books list.
Endurance, by Alfred Lansing
White Fang, Call of the Wild, both by Jack London
Darkness at Noon, by Arthur Koestler
Ghost Soldiers, by Hampton Sides
As I Lay Dying, by William Faulkner
For Whom the Bell Tolls, by Earnest Hemmingway
A Sand County Almanac, by Aldo Leopold
The Dive from Clausen's Pier, by Ann Packer
Cannery Row, by John Steinbeck
The Monkey Wrench Gang, by Edward Abbey

I'd recommend The Abandoned by Paul Gallico. It's about a street cat & a little boy who turns into a cat. I doubt you'll be able to find but if you can, you will fall in love.
I love anything by Sara Paretsky or Tony Hillerman - mysteries with great detectives - one is a woman & the other a Navajo.
Also love The Color Purple, A Chorus of Stones, Born Free, The Once & Future King & The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings trilogy.
the dharma bums & on the road by kerouac are always good re-reads.
I love anything by William Faulkener, and also by John Steinbeck. Paul Gallico is always a joy.
I also devour anything by or about the Mitford sisters.
P G Wodehouse is good for some gentle (and very English) humour. Less gentle (but very funny) The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove by Christopher Moore.
Well. . . you asked: My book will be available in a week or so. It's 280 pages printed in 12 point for ease of reading and it is in regard to the 60 years I spent living at the base of foothills in Indiana, and the characters that inhabit those hills.
It's fiction, based on fact, and there's NO sex, zombies or detailed blood and gore.
It will be at Amazon.com, Barnesandnoble.com and thebooknook.com.
