Minnie, the flat chested female kitten, from the seed warehouse south of Corvallis, born with a severe defect, has died. She went to a rescue in Portland for disabled cats about two weeks ago. She didn't last long and died a few days ago.
She was doomed from birth but was such a happy girl while she was here, for six weeks, after being born in a live trap, in my garage. At six weeks of age, she and her two siblings went to the Portland rescue where she died shortly thereafter.

So sorry that she is gone. So happy she had those happy weeks.
I'm so sorry. At least you were able to give her happiness in her short life. I always say that happiness cannot be measured in years, but it never seems fair when a sweet one is taken from us.
I just finished reading For Whom the Bell Tolls. Quite the book, really. Set in four days prior to the main character, an American college professor fighting in the Spanish revolution, with an assignment to blow a bridge. He hooks up with some hill rebels, a motley crew that includes gypsies. They discuss all sorts of things as they prepare to blow the fascists bridge and mainly death and if life can be lived in four days or one day even, and why can't a full life be lived in one day.
So sorry. Had you not stepped in, it's doubtful any of these kittens would have survived. You gave Minnie a comfortable & happy life, regardless of its length.
I did the best I could for them and enjoyed them so much. I'm sure the Portland rescue woman who took them did her best for Minnie also. Just one of those things. If she'd been born out there at the warehouse, she wouldn't have lived two days.
Awwwwwwwwwww, I am so sorry to hear that! At least you gave her a wonderful life and did the very best you could for her while she was here among us. You are her angel and she will be waiting for you at Rainbow Ridge. (I imagine you will have many cats there!) (g)
