Sleepy Day

I had trouble sleeping last night. I've been sick, which has included drainage from my running nose down the back of my throat and an upset stomach. I woke suddenly, to a phone call, at 8:30 a.m. I finally got my nose to stop running around 4:00 a.m. and fell asleep then. But 4 1/2 hours isn't enough sleep.

When the phone rang, I anwered it in my sleep, literally, thought I was in a dream, talking to someone my dream was about. I'd wandered into the garage, pretty much sleep walking, until I kind of "woke" up to where I was. Kind of strange. I've gone sleep walking before, however. Always is associated with an upset stomach and being tired out and suddenly startled "awake" by a noise, often the phone. Hahaha. I think it's kind of funny. I was only halfway through my sleep cycle, in deep dead sleep zone.

I stayed up after the phone call, cleaned and sterilized litterboxes, a weekly chore, and began making a stray housing unit for the homeless camp cats. It's getting cold, really cold, at night. It is important to provide something for outside cats.

Then, I drifted off to sleep again, on the couch and just woke up, at nearly midnight. My cats are mad about the schedule change and can't adjust. No problem for me. When I need sleep, I get it somehow and anywhere, even if it's in a park or rest area, snoozed in awkward positions in my car. I need my Zzzzz's.

I'm finishing the housing unit. I build them out of anything handy. I just need an insulated space for the cat inside, that's waterproof, no matter how or what I create that from. I'm trying new things, like insulation shrouded hardware cloth, which makes for very lightweight units. I usually make them out of old wood, painted to protect from rain, insulated with discarded foam from appliance packing or any other kind of insulative material I can get my hands on or improvise. I often use windshield light heat blockers, because anything that reflects will also reflect and hold body heat, in a small space. I can find those cheap this time of year.

Anyhow, been a slow day, very slow, with a lot of sleep catch up involved, which felt good. Happy isn't gaining weight. He's on antibiotics, sub cu fluids, heating pad, the works. He had a bad start over there, something happened, and I believe he had diarrhea long term from worms. It's hard for a kitten to pull out of a downslide, but I hope he can.
