Merry Christmas to All!

Merry Christmas to all of you! Yes, I finally found my keys late this afternoon, wound up in the springs, which are sort of unsprung, of my couch. This was cats at work. I'd already moved the couch to look under it. These were methodically interwoven into the spring coils. They have a string attached to them. I suppose, that night, with me asleep on the couch, that green string with the jingly keys was too much for them to resist.

The dryer is indeed toast. I am hanging things to dry over heat vents. It takes a couple days to dry that way, but it's working o.k. Slows things down but maybe that's just fine.

My Amazon order, with free two day shipping, gifts for a few folks, never arrived. It's still listed as arriving yesterday, but also listed as "in transit". With the two day free shipping, and ordering earlier in the month, I felt sure the order would be here in plenty of time, to reship out to the people I wanted to send them to, and for sure be here for a couple locals. Nope.

So Jeanne, the fact your package didn't arrive, lots of packages never got into Oregon due to the weather situation in Portland, at the airport. Thank you anyway.

I love all of you. You are all too wonderful, too good, too funny. Let's all make a toast, to good people across the globe, including my Canadian, British and French readers. I love you all.

And Merry Merry Christmas.

  1. i'll drink a toast when you get your package i sent you....that mr. mailman was a liar - telling me you would get it by tuesday this week, hah! bah humbug to him...i know he was trying to help out with a lower postage by sending it priority mail instead of express, but i would gladly have paid the extra if it would have made a significant difference...
and the thing amazon is supposed to send you from me - that was supposed to get to you on MONDAY.
    grrrrrrrrrrrr.

  2. No going after those mailmen, Jeanne, you do not want to spend Christmas day in jail, although I hear they have some pretty good Christmas jail dinners and even some carolers sometimes.

  3. over the river and thru the woods, to baltimore jail we go...
the cop knows the way, to drive straight there through the bright and balmy evening ho!
so over the beltway and through the streets, the jail is not too far,
    especially when riding in
    a baltimore city police car....
lets here it for canned turkey loaf and gravy!!!

  4. We love you too, dear Jody of the big heart! I'm thinking of you as I'm sitting here with a hot water bottle, warming my toes with my three furries curled up around me.

so glad you found your keys! Quite a story...although my story of where my keys disappeared for a full year might even beat your story :)! Particularly appropriate since it involves a dryer, well, a clothes washer really...

SO. About three years ago my entire key bunch disappeared, and despite days of frantic searching, asking around, much worry, there was not a sign of it. So I gave up and got new keys made, all the while crossing fingers that my keys hadn't somehow got into the hands of someone unscrupulous. And lo and behold, one day a year or so later there I am transferring my just-washed clothes to the dryer when...I suddenly spot the plastic key ring I'd almost forgotten about lying in my clothes sort of rusted (just key ring, no keys)!!! It was surreal as I had no idea where it had come from. And then, the next time I washed my clothes another bit of the key chain showed up! Eventually it turned out that the entire key chain must have been left in some pocket of clothing that I'd put for washing and got lodged behind the plastic ring at the mouth of my washing machine, and for a good year had been lying there SLOWLY rusting away and finally disintegrating bit by bit...

SO, dear ones, if you miss something, go check if its hiding in that big rubber loop around the washing machine opening!

(sorry this story got so long!)
    Merry Christmas to all!

  5. That is funny, Shefali! I thought to myself, when searching for the keys, would it not be ironic if the keys were stuck somehow in the dryer which was making it overheat and fail. I got your card and gift card today, Shefali, thank you so much. You are wonderful. Are you doing anything tomorrow, besides catching up? I know a lot of hard working people need holidays, to rest up and catch up and sleep and relax. I hope you can do all these things, plus maybe even more.

  6. Jeanne, you're so poetic tonight. Why aren't you in bed? Isn't it late back east? You're not staying up for Santa again, are you, to get him drunk, for the rest of his journey, because some of these police departments are getting very strict with DUI's on sleigh drivers. It's sad for the reindeer, when this happens, too. Nobody thinks of that, do they? Those drunk driving Santas.

  8. someone's got alcohol on her mind tonight Jody!!! Santa is watching you....perhaps he thinks you've been naughty underneath all that niceness????
    I'm not in bed because:
I took out three hundred or more empty cardboard boxes from amazon to the trash room.
I baked the ham and pumpkin pie tonight
We actually decorated our tree tonight
    I was concerned about
    Rook
He is doing better now - he ate quite a bit more and drank an s#@! of water to boot...and ran up the stairs and peered down the toilet bowl when it flushed!
I was helping my son wrap his gifts to his dad
I was helping my daughter carry down her gifts so she could wrap them while watching gilmore girls.
I was putting all the wrapped gifts under the tree
I was emailing Keith wishing him a merry christmas and all his cats, too, of course...
I was thinking of my Ginger, and wishing I could have had one more Christmas with him....

  11. Hey Cheysuli, happy holidays to you also, and yes, i wish for support from the local community for the homeless kitties of Linn County. I do have great support for the mid valley strays from the likes of the east coast, France, England, Ireland, Canada, India, Texas, the mid west, Sublimity, a wonderful person in Corvallis, a couple of them actually, I'm going to miss people I know.

To me, it is an incredible thing, to get support from across "the pond" even, for strays here in Albany, OR, and from the east coast, places I've been to and never probably will visit. It is simply amazing to me, and wonderful. I currently cannot think of even one person in Albany who contributes to the effort. But there are people in France doing so! To me, that is unbelievable.

  13. Merry Christmas, Jody! Yeah, we can relate to the postal problems. :( I guess we all have to look on the bright side and think that the post office extended the holiday for our friends and family members. It's like birthweek and birthmonth - it's Christmasweek.

We have a friend who works for the postal service and she couldn't even get her gifts from Seattle to Portland on time, so it seems to have hit us all.

Thanks for everything...and everything that you do for all of the cats/kittens that you help. The world is a better place because of people like you.

Thank you so much for your good wishes: I didn't do much on
Christmas except catch up on the things I needed to do... but it was a lovely, peaceful Christmas.
