Ebineezer Geezer Needs a Home

Photo is of the old gray male cat fixed yesterday and now, just for the weekend, being held at SafeHaven until Monday, in deference to his age and the very cold weather approaching. They will not take him in to adopt out, because he is so old, they figure he'd never get adopted.

He has only two teeth and was overloaded in roundworms. He will be pooping them out for a couple days, after I wormed him.

He's a sweet guy who needs an indoor only home, so he can have it easy during his last months on Earth.

I named him Ebineezer Geezer. Posted by Picasa

Do you want him, Pril? He's very old and shouldn't go back out to living outside. He'd likely be absolutely no trouble.

Awe, he's such a handsome old guy. I wish I could take him to live out is last days pampered and loved. I doubt he'd travel this far very well.

I'm going to post him on the Cat Blogosphere page, we've had some good results getting the word out, especially this week.

Thank you Mary Lynn! He so needs a good home! He has only two teeth! He sits and purrs and kneads.

Hi, we members at Catster.com just picked up the story about this very handsome guy. We've had lots of success in saving many dogs and cats since Jan 1, but we may need a little bit of time. Isn't there any way to board him somewhere for a few days?

If you take him to a "pet hotel," DON'T mention that he's a stray ... just say that you want to board your cat for a couple of days. They'll give him shots and then board him.

I know this, because a friend just found a dog wandering on the streets and if he had just told them that it was his dog, they would have taken him in.

Is there a phone number and email address we can post on Catster? That would help a lot!

bluestray@yahoo.com, 541-758-9392. The phone number may only be good until Monday or so.

One of our Catster members wrote me. Will this help board this cat until a home can be found for him? She wrote:

Hi, wanted you to know I made a Paypal donation directly to the shelter in hopes of begging them to hold on to the Geezer a few more days. Thanks so much for picking this up, I feel so bad for this poor old guy.

The shelter is www.safehavenhumane.com and I think it is closed on the weekends, but I tried anyway. I also told Jody about the donation.

I'm on catster with KC (the reporter for Cat Blogosphere) and Missy Blue Eyes.

Again, thanks. ML (Mary Lynn)
